FORMED in 1990, Battery Technologies (Pty) Ltd became associated with electronics group, Powertech, of the Altron Group in 1999.
Powertech is an investment holding company and its subsidiaries and associates are principally engaged in Power, Telecommunication
and Data Cables; Power and Distribution Transformers; Automotive and Industrial batteries and Solar Energy Systems; Lighting and
Ancillary products; Electrical Accessories, Energy Management and Energy Control products; and Distribution of Electrical and Electronic
Equipment and Accessories.
Since inception, Battery Technologies has become one of South Africa’s leading suppliers to a number of major utilities and financial institutions
in the highly-specialised field of stationary and solar battery power.
Our products cover all spheres of Rectifier and Battery technology with our principle partners, Eaton and Enersys. Our principal markets include
Telecommunications, UPS, solar and emergency power.
In March 2003, Power Technologies announced the sale of 25.1% of the equity in Battery Technologies to Kagiso Ventures Limited. Kagiso, an
empowerment company with impeccable credentials and an extensive business network contribute to Battery Technologies’ financial and
operational expertise thereby adding exceptional value to our business.
Our subsidary companies, Battery Technologies East Africa in Tanzania, situated in Dar es Salaam and Battery Technologies Nigeria LTD in
Nigeria, situated in Lagos will be our main hubs for our African businesses.
